SPEAKER BIO

Zoleka Mkhabela

Zoleka Mkhabela is a Social Science Education lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (School of Education). Presently, she is pursuing a doctoral degree focused on land reform and the South African Geography curriculum.

As a researcher, she is particularly interested in the areas of Social Science Education (particularly controversial issues), South African Curriculum focusing on inequalities and social justice, African history, and African consciousness. In addition to publishing articles and a book chapter, she has presented at both local and international conferences. Aside from this, she also works closely with UKZN’s Community Engagement team on a variety of initiatives. As part of the Erasmus+ mobility scholarship, she spent three months in Norway in 2019 and a semester in Poland in 2022.
