SPEAKER BIO

Tarynne Swarts

Tarynne Swarts is a PhD candidate on internationalisation in higher education at Wits university in the department of Education, policy and leadership studies under the tutelage of Professor Felix Maringe.  Her research area focuses on the acculturation of African international students in higher education and decolonialism.

She holds a Masters degree in Education (M.Ed) from the Katholieke University of Leuven, in Belgium, she spent 2 years as a visiting postgraduate scholar at the University of Granada in Spain and holds a Bachelor of music degree (Bmus, Honours) majoring classical piano and pedagogy from Nelson Mandela University. She is a professional musician  known as “Pachamama” which means mother earth in Spanish. Her music is inspired by her travels, and the fusing of eclectic musical cultures. When she is not performing or researching, she enjoys, cooking, fine wine and long walks in nature.
