SPEAKER BIO

Qhama Bona

My name is Qhama Bona and I was born in East London, South Africa. I did my primary schooling at Aqua Vista Primary School and Stirling Primary School. I went on to Stirling High School where I passed my matric in 2010. In 2012 I enrolled at Nelson Mandela University for Bachelor of Arts degree where I majored in Political Science and Sociology.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I did my honours in Political Science at Nelson Mandela University. Thereafter, I went to work at an NGO called Kwanele People’s Movement in East London. The NGO was concerned with how the basic services of the people of East London was being delivered by the Buffalo City Municipality. In 2019, I started working at the African National Congress’ Headquarters in Johannesburg at their International Relations Unit. Late in 2019, I enrolled for a master’s degree in international Relations at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University in Istanbul, Turkey. After completing my masters in November 2021, I came back to South Africa. I am currently working at Nelson Mandela University as Business Partner for South-South Partnerships Management at the university’s International Office. I am extremely passionate about International Relations, and I yearn to see a where there is great cooperation among states.
