Normah Zondo is the Executive Director of the Corporate Relations Division at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), responsible for initiating, planning, implementing, and managing external relations and strategic partnerships as well as positioning the university locally and globally as a premier university of African Scholarship. She also oversees the advancement of institutional internationalisation and provides high-level strategic support to senior management. She has over 15 years of experience in stakeholder management through strategic brand management and PR campaigns.

She is the primary advocate for the university’s Internationalisation efforts – leading the institution’s Internationalisation programmes, partnerships and services offered to international students and developing and implementing UKZN’s comprehensive Internationalisation agenda. In addition, she is providing leadership and vision for the university in global learning, student mobility programmes, study abroad, etc.
Normah is responsible for positioning the university locally and globally as a premier university of African Scholarship and institutional communication and provides high-level strategic support to the senior management. She leads a dynamic team responsible for internal communication, external communication, international relations and partnerships, institutional publications, institutional events, alumni relations, marketing, brand management, web management services, graphic design and production services.
Normah is pursuing PhD studies in internationalisation, focusing on advancing the internationalisation of higher education through strategic partnerships. She holds a master’s in educational resource development from the former University of Natal and a Bachelor of Education specialising from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Normah also completed an Advanced Leadership & Development Programme with the UKZN Extended Learning and has undergone extensive training in public relations management, protocol and diplomacy etiquette, culture and function coordination, leadership, writing, media and public relations, and professional communications skills.
Despite her busy schedule, Normah also serves on various external professional bodies. She served as National Deputy and KZN Chairperson of Marketing Advancement and Communication in higher education (MACE), fulfilling a leadership role in the higher-education sector within Southern Africa. She is currently a deputy president of the International Education Association
of South Africa (IEISA), the IEISA’s Directors’ Forum Chairperson, serves on the Management Council. This non-profit organisation was established to respond to international educational trends and ensure South Africa remains competitive within the global economic environment.
