Evanilda Souza De Santana Carvalho

Professor Evanilda Souza De Santana Carvalho was appointed as the Executive Vice-rector of Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS) in 2023. She graduated in Nursing from the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana -UEFS (1990). She continued her studies achieving a master’s, in 2005, and a PhD in Nursing, in 2010, from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA).

While studying for her doctorate, she also studies at the Department of Sociology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2009 to 2010, having been awarded a CAPES scholarship. She spent a sabbatical year at the College of Nursing, University of South Carolina, Columbia, United States, from 2018 to 2019, courtesy of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológicoa (CNPq). She served as a Professor in the Undergraduate Nursing courses at UEFS, and Postgraduate Nursing at UFBA and UEFS, and as a permanent Professor of the program Postgraduate Collective Health at UEFS. She served as Postgraduate Coordinator at the Vice-Presidency of Research and Postgraduate Studies at UEFS (2019-2021). She coordinated the Graduate Program in Collective Health 2022/2023 at UEFS. Prof Carvalho’s interest is Nursing and Collective Health, and her research focuses on the experience of chronic illness and care, stigma and health of vulnerable groups, and the health of the black population in Brazil, with an emphasis on sickle cell disease. She is a member of the Sociedad Chilena de Enfermería Familiar y Comunitaria.
